New $2,500 Generator Option

January 21, 2010 By: admin Category: GT Stuff, Trailer Customers

barking-beauties-grooming1One of our latest customers is from Laguna Hills, California.  Barking Beauties Grooming chose to purchase a GT Grooming Trailer with our optional “Budget Booster” generator.  To SAVE $2,500, Barking Beauties let us provide a 3,000 watt Honda portable generator mounted in the back of their truck.  We simply run a cord from the truck to the front of the trailer!  This configuration saves a lot of money for the mobile groomer, and allows for the ability to groom with EITHER generator or shor-line power (extension cord).

Of course, our typical generator option is always available for $4,950.  This option includes an Onan 3,600 watt generator (which now comes in BLACK!) that can be exposed to the elements. We weld up a cage to mount on the trailer.  We also include a 30 amp converter, an automatic switchover system, and an internal remote switch.  Just as with our Budget Booster Generator, you have the ability to use your shor-line as well.

GT Grooming Trailers builds all of our grooming trailers with the possibility of our customers wanting to expand their mobile dog grooming empire.  Groomers who hire employees can max out their profits by allowing their grooming trailer to be out on the road seven days a week.  With GT’s grooming caddy, it is EASY for groomer #1 to remove his personal equipment and for groomer #2 to bring her’s in!  Simply pull out the push-pins and the grooming caddy comes off!  Even grooming companies that are one-man outfits find that the GT design allows for easier cleaning.

Grooming Trailer Lights

May 30, 2009 By: admin Category: Grooming Ergonomics

gt-grooming-trailer-lightsI continue to be amazed at how some grooming trailer converters boast about their “engineering” and “ergonomics” specialties yet fail to use some common sense when it comes to installing lights.

The best place to have lights in a mobile grooming trailer is ON THE CEILING–NOT DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF YOUR EYES.  All GT pet grooming trailers have lights on the ceiling.  We have 16 feet of tubes with diffusers to provide the best quality light we can.

When shopping for a mobile grooming salon, be sure to see where interior lights are installed.  Make sure they are NOT in your line of site when bathing or grooming a dog. The configuration that you see in this photo is our standard grooming trailers lighting package and provides the groomer with more than enough light to work in–even in the evening!

"No" To Generator, "Yes" to Hawaii

May 16, 2009 By: admin Category: Business School, Grooming equipment

grooming-trailer-hawaiiMy wife, Kim, is the Highlands Ranch mobile groomer.  She’s been gooming for about ten years and saves over $5,000 each year by simply being smart about her grooming trailer.  This strategy won’t work in hotter climates, but here in Colorado it is easy to save over five grand each year by not using a generator on her grooming trailer.

Once the numbers are crunched, it is easy to see how much of a drain a generator really is.  In addition to the initial cost of installing a quality machine, there are expenses such as fuel, oil and filter changes, etc.  In order to keep a warranty, regular services must be maintained.

We’ve been teaching for a few years now that the money saved can pay for a week in Hawaii, and Kim has decided to surprise me with another (much needed) vacation!  No wonder why so many mobile dog groomers look to her for guidance!  Yes, mobile grooming is  a great way  to make a living.
