GT Grooming Trailer & Pet Groomer Resource.

GT Grooming Trailers changed the industry by being the FIRST conversion company to produce an efficient mobile grooming trailer.  We even had the most advanced website in the industry.  That was years ago, and not only has our grooming trailer design changed, but our website needs are changing too.

We will be unveiling our new website in about one month.  We will have UP-TO-DATE pictures of our trailers and and show the other packages and services that GT Grooming Salons offers.  Please bookmark this site so you can see how GT, again, is changing/leading the mobile grooming industry.

GT builds grooming trailers like no other conversion company.  When closely looked at, one can see the attention to details that GT is obsessed with.  This photograph is just one example:  Notice how all of the hardware that GT Grooming Trailers uses matches, and we even match the color of the hardware so that it looks great!  A) The white walls have white hardware.  B)  The silver metal has silver hardware.  C)  The black controls have black hardware.

Examples like this are just more reasons why GT has an exceptional reputation for building the smartest mobile dog grooming salons on the market.

GT Grooming Trailers aren’t the cheapest, they’re just the best!

While most grooming trailer conversion companies built their niche as selling the “cheapest” grooming trailers, we built our reputation by providing the best built trailers on the market.  There are some things that the cheap conversion companies practice to ensure having the lowest quality mobile salons.  Some are:

1. Don’t include needed items such as trailer brakes.

2. Include a “stainless steel” tub that LOOKS like quality, but is actually very thin, flimsy, needs calk to keep watertight, and will ultimately fail.

3. Install a cheap “apartment window” air conditioner instead of a quality unit designed for the application.

4. Use cheap cargo cam-locking doors instead of RV style doors.

5. Advertise “waterproof” vinyl floors but fail to describe how they are not waterproof where it matters; along the walls.  While GT spends about $1,000 waterproofing the floors, low quality grooming trailers have virtualy no protection over the subfloor.

6. Use an electric water heater (or no water heater) instead of a propane water heater.

7. Install a “portable” generator instead of a quality RV or commercial generator designed (and warranted) for a mobile application.

8. Use “big box hardware store” cabinetry that will brake, mildew, and rot in a mobile grooming environment.

9. Include low quality items such as small water tanks, “price point” trailer shells from corner lots, or inferior plumbing components.

10.  ”Frame” the tub and cabinets with wood or other unprotected materials.

This list was too easy, and just scrapes the surface!

GT Grooming Trailers continues to crank out our mobile pet grooming salons to the smartest groomers in the country.  We will be in Los Angeles at the end of March with two new salons (one in Aneheim and another in Santa Clarita).  For those of you in the the city of Angels, let us know if you would like to tour one of our salons; we will do our best to make that happen for you.  Or if you’d like to see a “real” operational trailer by one of our many customers, we can arrange a showing for you.

A new book is on the market.  It’s called The Mobile Pet Grooming Guide.  Some of the mobile grooming conversion companies are mentioned in the book, and GT Grooming Trailers has a photo of one of our salons right on the cover!  The book, understandably, is heavily weighted towards a good company called Wag’nTails, which is the largest and most known conversion company in the business; but a balance of other brands would have been good for the industry.  For example, one of the only pictures of a trailer interior is of a GT.  After all, Wag’nTails is like a PC, and GT Grooming Trailers is like a Mac!  But I’m happy we at least made the cover and a few pics inside.

The book has strengths and weaknesses.

STRENGTHS: Very good information for start-ups looking for advertising ideas.  The book has suggestions on how to handle the phone, route appointments, and tips for almost every aspect of the job.  There is also some good information about running a fleet of vehicles, retailing products, etc.

WEAKNESSES:  First, the author assumes that trailers are for “starters” because trailers are cheaper than vans.  After serving about one hundred customers, I can safely estimate that those who purchase trailers instead of vans are not simply starters, they are SMARTER. (more…)

Shoppers have shared with us their experiences with a GT Grooming Salons competitor.  Evidently, one company is “selling against” GT’s grooming trailers by saying that GT uses “horse trailers” to use as our shell.

Sort of funny (since they use a camper and call it a “proprietary design”) but GT does not use horse trailers.  We have an arrangement with a company who builds our trailer shells SPECIFICALLY FOR ONLY GT.  Nobody else can acquire our trailer shells.  Because of our volume, our shells are welded up precisely to fit GT’s equipment.  The frame is built for GT’s unique use.  For  example, the studs are spaced so we can bolt our tubs into the framing which allows for more space under the tub (which allows for a smaller trailer shell).  The headers are welded specifically for our water heaters, the doors are custom built for only GT, the examples go on and on.  

So, if a company who has sold TWO mobile grooming trailers is selling against GT’s use of a TRULY proprietary design by calling it a “horse trailer”, a responsible shopper would find that our trailers are designed from the ground up to be mobile dog grooming trailers through and through.

NOBODY builds grooming trailer floors like GT Grooming Trailers! Not only was GT the FIRST to install drains in the floor for easy cleaning, but the differences also include:

• 100% sealed floor 6 inches up the wall.
• Even the mechanical compartment is sealed (compare that to others).
• The trailer floor is completely undercoated (compare that to others).
• Most of the grooming equipment is suspended off the floor for easy mopping (compare that to others).
• Available in different colors (compare that to others).

So, if you see other moible dog grooming trailer companies advertising the same kind of details on their trailers, remember that GT was not only the first, but continues to be the best in quality.

This is a picture of a pet grooming trailer we completed just a couple days ago.  When Jerry came out to pick it up, he was really excited to see that the GT grooming trailer is even more spacious and well-designed than he expected!  

One feature that Jerry noticed is how GT keeps the doorway clear from cabinets and other clutter (see grooming trailers floorplan for example).  It’s true, our cabinets and storage areas in the front of our salons are built to effeciently store  all your needed equipment yet still allow easy access to through our custom-made 26″ door.  

How can we do this?  GT fabricates all our stainless steel features–we DON’T simply screw big box hardware store wooden cabinets to the floor which rot, wobble apart, and yes–stick out in front of the door.
